First I want to apologize for any grammar and vocabulary mistakes in this text!

You'll find the same pictures and videos as in the german test-version.

Many users asked the same question again and again: which microSD-card is the best for my Flashlinker?

Therefore and for the reason, that you can get SDHC-cards at reasonable prices now, I've tested some of my microSD-cards with my SDHC-capable Flashlinkers.

First I've tested the provided cardreaders. Due to the new specification for the SDHC-cards there are some compatibility issues you didn't recognise before.
You can find more explanations here:
http://www.hjreggel.net/cardspeed/index.html#special-sd.html

E.g. with the first included cardreaders (the blue ones) it was impossible for me to run a SDHC-Benchmark with success, already the "normal" 2GB-microSD's caused a benchmark-crash.

The most external or PC-integrated cardreaders react in the same way.
Also the "micromate" cardreader provided by SanDisk originate some problems at my computer...

I made several tests with different programs:

- Benchmark-Test with HD Tach 3.0.4.0
http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public/index.php?request=HdTach

- Benchmark-Test with HD Tune 2.55
http://www.hdtune.com/

- Benchmark-Test with Disk Speed 1.1
http://www.roadkil.net/DskSpeed.html

The cardreader-comparison was made with HD Tach 3.0.4.0, the microSDHC "A-DATA 4 GB Class 6" and the following cardreaders:

- R4DS v1 (blue)
- R4DS v2 (silver)
- CycloDS v1 (blue)
- SuperCard SCDS-One (white)
- SanDisk MicroMate (white, SD-Adaptor necessary)
- SanDisk (8 GB) Mobile Mate (black-red)
- A-Data micro Reader (green)
- M3-Real USB-Reader (black)
- DSTT USB-Reader (turquoise-silver)

As you can see, the values don't lie apart with the microSD-able readers, the SanDisk MicroMate falls behind.

The blue cardreaders aren't in the comparison because of the crashes which were mentioned before.

For the following tests I choose the R4DS v2.

I take the program HD Tune 2.55 for the tests (Disk Speed 1.1 delivered no data at one microSD)

HD Tune 2.55 shows the minimum, maximum and average reading value; futhermore the burst rate at writing and the access time.

Here I took the following memory-cards:

- Kingston (Japan) 1 GB
- Kingston SDHC -Class 4- 4 GB
- A-Data 2 GB
- A-Data SDHC -Class 6- 4 GB
- SanDisk SDHC -Class 2- 4 GB
- SanDisk SDHC -Class 4- 6 GB
- SanDisk SDHC -Class 4- 8 GB

The "class"-difference among the SDHC-cards is only visible between Class 2 and Class 4, for Class 6 my PC seems to be the bottleneck.

An interesting point you can see at the random access. Only the A-Data -Class 6- is as fast as the "normal" microSD-cards, the other lie in the bad range starting from 1ms.
The other benchmark-programs showed the same access time.

Here are some HD Tune-Sreenshots after testing:

At last I made videos with each memory-card and each Flashlinker, overall 28 videos.

The memory-cards all got the same data and the actual firmware according to the Flashlinker:

- CycloDS v 1.3
- DSTT v 1.8
- M3-Real v 3.0
- SCDS-One SDHC v 3.0 SP 2

Before I changed the Flashlinker the Save- and Firmware-Files were deleted; so each video create a new Save-File!

Each video shows the Flashlinker and the memory-card; afterwards starts the Castlevania-Intro.

Here it concerns, whether the video is liquid shown, any blurrys due to the focus of the video camera.
Coarser pixel structures can be explained with twice conversion (Camer - PC / ".wmv" - ".flv").
The last conversion was done with the program "Super", which you can download here:
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html#Dnload

Here you can see the conversion-settings:

I just film the touchscreen, so it could be that sometimes the screen is only dark or bright...

I've set the speed setting for the SCDS-One SDHC manually to "30“ (even if the autospeed-program suggests a worse value)!

The videos are without sound, so you can concentrate on the pictures.

POSITIV

+ CycloDS and DSTT works with all kind of SDHC-memorycards

NEGATIV

- M3-Real and SCDS-One SDHC have some probs with the most memorycards. The random access is the point you have to look for.

FAZIT

You should buy one of the faster memory-brands (Kingston / Toshiba / PNY / A-Data). Be sure that your flashlinker works with the microSD.
The percentage of 100 was selected because of the fact that microSD's could launched in other articles (e.g. cameras or mobiles).
